Climbing Mount Aragats
One of the most popular routes for extreme tourists is climbing Mount Aragats. Aragats (4090 meters) is the highest point not only in the Republic of Armenia but in the whole South Caucasus. This is an ancient extinct volcano, the age of which is more than 60 million years.
The route of climbing Aragats is of interest both for experienced climbers and for those who are thrill-seekers, who for the first time decided to climb a real mountain and challenge themselves.
Mount Aragats is increasingly attracting lovers of extreme sports, because North Peak, the highest point of the mountain, is located at a distance above 4 kilometers.
Aragats has 4 peaks:
- North - 4090 meters
- West - 4007 meters
- East - 3916 meters
- South - 3897 meters.
From the summit of Mount Aragats, a picture of amazing beauty opens up on the crater of an extinct volcano. On the slope of Aragats, at an altitude of 3200 meters above sea level, there is a mountain lake Kari.
However, one desire to climb Mount Aragats is sometimes not enough: you need to be physically savvy and have special equipment.
